DBC PROGRAM

The DBC active treatment program originates from Finland and has been researched and developed over the past 20 years. The program provides a unique approach to management of chronic back, shoulder and neck pains.

The DBC's Approach

The traditional approach to look for a single reason or diagnosis for musculoskeletal disorders is challenging with most spinal patients. It is for this reason that the DBC program uses a holistic approach towards assessment and management of spinal patients. We understand the importance of incorporating thorough medical history and all relevant investigations together with the psychological factors that contribute to pain or decrease in functional abilities of the musculoskeletal system. Psychological factors we look into include patient’s fear avoidance behavior and their perception on locus of recovery.

The aim of the DBC program is to:

• Restore range of motion
• Restore muscle co-ordination and movement control
• Improve muscle endurance
• Improve general condition
• Re-educate patients in the difference between normal physical loading and pain
• Reduce fears and avoidance behavior
• Tackle the psychological/social/occupational obstacles of return-to-work
• Reduce usage of analgesics
• Reduce chances of surgery.
